Beyond Summerland by Jenny Lecoat

Book Cover Design

The objective:

The objective was to create a cover for the novel "Beyond Summerland," a historical drama by the New York Times bestselling author Jenny Lecoat, set in the Channel Islands. The book delves into the secrets and lies within a small community recovering from war, focusing on two young women at the heart of a volatile mystery.

The solution:

I created a cover with images that showcase the beauty of the Channel Islands and evoke a nostalgic feeling, setting the tone for the story. The character’s clothing hints at the era of where the story is set.

Advanced Reader Copy Design for PRH Canada

Mechanical and Cover Design

The objective:

Create a series of galley designs for imprints such as Random House, Knopf Canada, and McClelland & Stewart. The designs needed to be vibrant and appealing, as galleys play a crucial role in marketing campaigns to promote the titles.

The solution:

Galleys or Advance Reader Copies (ARCs) are printed in small quantities. They are distributed to industry professionals to generate interest for upcoming releases or reprints. Industry professionals often receive numerous galleys from different publishing houses. To capture the reader's attention in a market filled with mainly photographic covers, I created a colourful, and dynamic patterned cover, in order to stand out.
